The sellers says the jaws open to 6" and maybe they are 5" wide.

He didn't now if there's a model number on it.

Thanks for the heads-up, Ted.

Even at $20, it's too far for me also.

Looks like one of the pressed steel slide, 506? variants. IIRC those came in a 3.5 and 5" wide version.

Tedsters: not a terrific deal on that vise because usually a paint job like that is covering up more issues than rust. pretty funny that he couldn't take a picture of it sitting flat or more than one picture. i'd pass even though I've bought many of those vises and still will buy more i'm guessing.

I remember when my Dr. said i could start practicing and playing golf again after my shoulder surgery. he gave me the 100% go ahead about 3 months after surgery and he wasn't surprised that i'd been hitting golf balls with full swings for a month prior to that. mine has been fine since and that was 2004 when i had mine done so best of luck with yours. not surprised you are moving around and i hope your job is still there as you left it when you get back to work. cheers

All: here's the picture because when he pulls the ad after a local person buys the vise the ad and picture will disappear. i thought the vise was tilted up into a corner on first look, but it was early in the AM for me here in Seattle. since he did an aerial shot and painted it silver I'd still have my doubts that it isn't cracked or welded or missing parts. sure it's worth $20 just for the parts if enough are good, but i hate ads where the guys are trying to hide something. he might not be, but I've had guys set beer cans in front of way too many cracked or missing parts on vises to tell you about.

to be honest i don't think he is trying to hide nothing, he sent me 3 pics if i can figure out how to get them off from my macbook, usually i can copy a pic and put in my photo library and pull it up from it, these are going onto my downloads and i have not quiet figured out how to get them off, if it would have been closer i may have posted a pic after i had it but its too far to drive, about like the 1/3hp baldor buffer i posted a couple nights ago for $20 that was a no brainer also, but it was in the same area it was too far to drive

My condolences for your vise security guard. I too have a Tortoise marked kitty and they are know for their Torti-tude disposition. Shes not the most friendly and any lovin is done her terms but we love her in spite of that

All: thanks guys and i'll work through it (I hope sooner rather than later). she was an awesome cat and she even scared my daughter's 70 pound part dobie so that he tip toes when coming inside our house.

she used to return putts for me when i was practicing and of course on her terms.

thanks again and i was working on a project that she will lay under for the rest of her days in a very nice 6 bottle wine box one of my son's clients didn't want that i happen to have to put something in.

FYI these pictures were taken after she got some infection 6 or 7 years ago that the vet tried to get out for $1,000. then when vet wasn't successful she wanted another $1,000 to do same operation or said she'd put Mirry down for no charge. we left the office quickly and new vet said after $200 in tests no results she could identify so we bought a few pills and let me tell you that was one tough cat. 70% great days, 25% good and the 5% fighting that stupid infection that she probably got from one of the local critters that go through our yard (eagles, hawks, crows, rats, possums, raccoons and such). RIP Mirry

no wonder i like not heading to the scrap yard or getting rid of things others have abused. i guess it's in my DNA

thanks again for listening and back to digging and pouring cement
