Craftsman Vise Jaws

I am looking for replacement jaws for my 5.5" Craftsman vise. Researching, I find 4" and 6", I have also been told the 5.5 jaws have been discontinued. I was referred to a Wilton part number, but looking at the measurements, the length would match, but the holes don't match up.

Does anyone know of a company that sells replacement jaws for my model# 51871 Craftsman 5.5" vise that actually fit to size?

No, but I really wouldn't be strong on who would STOCK this. What about a custom set in copper? There's a thread in Fab & Techniques.... I've been meaning to do this for my Wiltons for 6+ years.

I extended this offer to one other member (never heard back), but you have the copper shipped to me plus enough for me to make a set for myself and I'll make a set to your specs and mail to you. You can PM if interested. We're in the same state, but I'm guessing you're in hell, er I mean the Front Range

Sears does sell some parts including vise jaws but are very expensive.

I replaced the jaws in one of my older USA sears vises with dimensional aluminum. This was a nice mod for replacing bad jaws. Have a dedicated soft jaw vise.

I like this idea. I know I can get the aluminum cheap enough and I can drill the holes easy enough. I want to get a Wilton or two, but haven't found the right deal yet.

I saw them on line under craftsman vise model #51871 For $57.99 but they are a substitution. They say that they will work!

Note: I tried to buy replacement jaws for my craftsman vise and they were almost the same price as a new vise. I bought the new vise. That was about 10 years ago.

That's part of my thought process as well. I hate to spend a crazy amount on jaws that are probably worth more than the vise.

I think I will go the aluminum route and keep looking for a good vintage Wilton vise (or more) for my other needs.
