If you're in the market for a vise I wouldn't think that's a bad price at all. No clue on the model but it gets extra cred in my book for the swank Craftsman label.

I have been looking for one. Yes, for 60 I would buy it.

Model 05196. One on ebay asking 350.00, unrestored. Not worth it for that price.

Im glad to see you are not responding, hopefully this means you are on your way with $60 to buy that vise. I would pay double for that without thinking twice as it looks to be in great shape. Hurry and let us know.

How much of a good idea is it to buy a second vise if I don't even have a workbench yet? Haha

Just purchased chas parker 955 last week.

That's one of the finest machinist vises CM ever offered. They are highly sought after.

Hope the seller doesn't sell it out from under you!

It might be model 05196. The model number is on the front of the dynamic jaw cap.

Excuse me? I think you should keep that question to yourself! :lol_hitti

I think my workbench has about 10 vises under it. Just in case, you know.

Your book? What do you mean by that?

Poor feller, I mean the logo is back in the day. Meaning it's fracking old, back when you bought something once and passed it down. I actually didn't know it was a sought after model, since you're new ill go ahead and tell you there's some here that will swear they trip over the same thing (in this case vise) and while the vise in question is priced at $60, they will say that's too much and they can pick it up for $20. But I guess it's the areas, I live in an area tools and good junk is highly regarded and demands a premium price. Like more than new. Anyway go get that vise bub!:3gears:

NO! I see what you did there. You're trying to weasel out of mowing his yard and neighbor's wife, AND short him 20 cents (the retail was $32.30)!

Don't listen to him! I'll be glad to pay you that plus the missing 20 cents and proudly send you a picture of it on my bench.

Scored this 5191 today at an old airport hangar in Wauchula, Florida.

Didn't get a good before pic, but this was after 90 minutes of a wire wheel, WD40, and steel wool.

Debating whether or not to paint it or leave natural.

Opinions?

I'm thinking mine is '49-mid '50s

Smooth as can be!

It's the 05196. I like it better than the Parker :p for sure better than any brand new $60 vise.

Nice scores to both of you guys! Hell the 5196 deserves a "U ****!"

There should be a date stamped on the top of the slide close the vise all the way and look just behind the main body.

No, I was just trying to weasel out of mowing the lawn.

Anyway, if his neighbors are anything like some of mine, no vise is worth that kind of money.

This one looks like a Columbian that's missing the pipe jaws it originally came with.

You might be right, the picture is bad but still looks like it could be a Columbian sign. The vise looks quite used and obused. I'm not sure if it is even worth asking if it is for sale since the pipe jaws are missing. What do you guys think?

Must of been a craftmans vise week, I picked this up last week. I plan to clean it up and park it beside my matching toolbox and floor drill press.
