As a follow up, for what it's worth, my Snap-On dealer actually tells the mechanics who are starting off to NOT buy Snap-On. He tells them to go to Sears and get Craftsman, especially the sets on sale. Then gradually get Snap-On stuff to keep at work and take the Craftsman stuff home to use there.
As an ME looking at going into the racing world, you will definitely appreciate the quality of Snap-On. Tools are an investment for life, as long as they don't get stollen.
