Since Sears is and has been discontinuing more tool items every day, if I should need to exchange a tool they no longer stock, how do they honor their warranty if at all? I have 2 screw holding screw drivers with mushy tips. the PFK (Pimply Faced Kid) at Sears simply looked at me as if I grew a second head and it caught fire.

They have offered me store credit for what I can't remember it will come to me. I bought something else and replaced the tool with one from another brand

im pretty sure it was an older RP ratcheting wrench

I find with sears that If you make an effort to be friendly and professional with the Staff and don't whine like a little *****!!! They will do anything you ask from discounts, points, warranties, price matching. They always help me out and I always say thank you :scared:

I'd rather return the discontinued Craftsman to Sears, and have them provide you a GearWrench as part of the warranty process. There are options, just need to be persistent and ask. :D

The worst they can say is no. But you'll never know if you don't ask.

I had an off-size Craftsman ratchet wrench like the one shown in the photo below. It was always sold as an open-stock item and was never sold as part of a set. About a year or two ago, the pawl broke on it (definitely not from overuse or abuse.) I took it to Sears and they told me that they didn't carry it anymore and they gave me a phone number to call. The customer service agent told me that indeed, they stopped selling the tool many years ago and then looked up the highest retail price on the item, added tax and emailed me a RMA form and told me to return it to the nearest Sears. I turned in the busted tool and the RMA and they refunded me in cash (it was a pretty sizable amount, if I remember correctly.) I ended up buying a Wright tool to replace it since they carried it in the same size and style. I wish I could replace all of my closed-end CM ratchets with the Wrights; they're so much better.
