Craftsman "warranty"

I have a 12 drawer (lower) tool chest that is probably at least 20 y.o.
One of the slides is giving me trouble. To be truthful, I haven't gone to the bother of emptying out the drawer to take a real look at what's going on either. This has been going on for a while and while I was at Sears grabbing some vacuum bags for momma, I asked them about my tool chest. The answer was not what I had expected…. some are & some are not was his reply to the "Craftsman" guaranty. I know Sears is in trouble, but I was under the impression that the "Craftsman" label was a no questions replacement. Was I mistaken about this or are they trying to cut their losses? In all fairness I wasn't particularly looking for a new unit, it has served me well. But maybe handing me a few new slides or some other "fix" would keep me happy and out of HF the next time that I add another chest to the collection.
Any Craftsman tool box/chest stories?

The only thing they will replace with no questions asked are hand too.

Dump the craftsmen box and buy a harbor freight, its a shame they are better but they are.

I really can't complain! I didn't think that I was. Mostly wondering if my thinking that it was guarantied like the tools was right or not with the quick "dust off" from my informal question to the sales person. Re read the op!

i just went to Sears to get 3 ratchets replaced and the guy was rude and just opened a drawer under the cash register and threw a bunch of refurbished ones on the table and said ok match up what u have. I asked if they could just give me the repair kits, they used to have them on the wall that said price 1 cent. He said no they dont do that any more once a month a guy comes in and rebuilds the broken ones this is all I have. So I took the refurbished ones and left. Sad for Sears. Harbor Freight and Home Depot and Lowes all seem to have added better selections of mechanics type tools in the past few years.

I would just fix it, I have a couple of 20+ year old's and they are a lot better built than what they sell now,

The Craftsman line available at most places is now their second tier stuff. For many years, Craftsman was only available at Sears and one other distributor. Now everyone and their brother sells Craftsman tools.

However, Craftsman now has an "Industrial" line, which seems to be a lot better quality than the commercial stuff. You can't buy it at Sears or online anywhere, only through industrial distributors. The Industrial line still has a no BS warranty.
