I picked this up today too..

I think it's missing a side cover over the belts and the headstock axle keeper over the rear of the axle or something like that..
It matches my old CMan Veri-Slo drill press..
It's motor is in the cabinet on wheels that it's bolted to and it runs well, it also has some steady rest like things with it, like an eye in a yolk thing with a hole through it with a brass insert.. IDK, I'm not a woodworker but I couldn't leave this there..
What do I have here?

Pretty common and decent but not really sought after, you may be able to clean it up and flip it if you didn't pay too much but if you have the room, keep it and check out Simonetti's bowl turning thread.

I probably have about $35-$45 into it and the tooling it came with.
It was bundled with a huge old weaver jack tht doesn't quite work(http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=297693), alemite pneumatic greaser that takes a barrel and rolls around (untested), box O drywall tools (that I actually need), box O fluids like acetone WD40 half gallon of thread cutting oil, gallon of muratic acid, and many aerosol cans of various things all for $80.

My mom says she wants me to clean this wood lathe up for her and that she wants to try it because she watches it on antenna TV a lot, lol.. So I won't be selling it..
I am selling the alemite greaser because I have a bigger one already and couldn't pass it up in a nice bundle..

Today I cleaned it and its cabinet up real nice, WD40 cleaned everything..
Strip cleaned the tailstock, readjusted backlash, greased the quill, it's in tip top shape.
Oiled the headstock bearings per manuel, found the rear shaft collar and found a set screw, adjusted axle end play, steel wooled the chuck nice and shiny, headstock is in tip top shape..
Draw filed the bed rails a bit, they look real nice, no real damage anywhere, tht's in tip top shape..
Oiled the electric motor, it ha actual oil holes with flip cap just like the headstock, it runs smooth and quiet besides the sound being amplified by the cabinet full of aresol cans, the motor is in tip top shape.
Renailed some trim on the cabinet and cleaned it thoroughly, it's in OK shape but it could be a bit more heavily built, the doors are a bit flimsy..

I am very happy with this little guy, it looks real nice in my shop and matches my old Veri-Slo CMan 100 drill press.
Its strange that the lathe and the drill press are pretty much from the same line yet the drill press is a beastly machine by today's standards but the lathe is built just OK IMO. I am not impressed with the design of the tailstock having its quill key and lock as the same device.. You know maybe its supposed to have a shoe there or something I'll check it out.. Regardless the drill press is in another league vs the lathe.. Woodworking stuff does seem to be that way vs metalworking stuff though..

Honestly I will never use this thing, I never turn wood really and if I was to turn some wood why wouldn't I just use my metal lathe with a feeding tool post etc.. The hand turning wood tools would be useful for me to turn wood but I would still use the other lathe as to keep all the mess in one area rather than have 2 lathes to clean chips out of..

Ether it's going to my mom and stepdad for them to play with like my mom mentioned, or it'll sit in my shop as an ornament and just be pretty and cool, or maybe I will sell it if my mom decides she doesn't want it taking up space at her place..

If I was to put this up for sale on CL or whatever what would be a fair asking price?
Not looking to high dollar anyone, I may be open to an offer or trade for metalworking/mechanics type tools or other guy stuff.. I really want a wideband setup for my car..

I'll get some pics of it all cleaned up here in just a bit, let me know what you think please?
I'm only 24 and still learning so any advice/feedback is nice to help me become more proficient at this stuff..

And the greaser I did up today too, I ended up cpmpletely strip cleaning its entire pump mechanism and the gun, it works sweet now but man that was a lot of dirty work, looks nice all cleaned up too eh?

This nice looking white one takes a 35 pound grease bucket and is half full, I also have a larger alemite greaser similar to this but more industrial that takes a 120 pound barrel and is 2/3 full..
I really don't need 2 of these and I'm trying to decide to keep the smaller more nimble better looking one (in pic), or the big monster with more grease than I'll ever use in my lifetime..
Any idea on what these types of things go for would be great to know also, I am open to an offer/trade on either of my 2 pneumatic roller barrel greasers.. I don't even know the proper name for these things, what are they called exactly?

Probably $70-$100 for the lathe and chisels. Wood lathes are pretty simple tools and don't need the precision of a metalworking unit.

Those chisels look very well used, so they probably aren't worth much on their own.

The lathe cleaned up well, I was thinking $100 firm on the lathe with cabinet and tools, probably fetch that around here at least. The Alemite greasers could go for more but :dunno: any price references for them as they do not turn up around here.
