Craftsman workbench - good deal?

I saw this craftsman workbench come up local on Craigslist for $50. I tried searching online for similar in store, to get a price estimate, but didn't find it. Anyone have any reference for this bench? He says it is 4' x 2'. Thanks in advance!

$50 isn't much so I would say it's a good deal even with out looking at the quality side of it.... It might not be good if you are looking to build motors on top of it, but if you are working on RC cars it will be fine...

I'd pay $50 if I had the room for it and then decide what kind of duty it would be seeing...

That is the old style before they went "modular" at Sears. I think that is a fair price. I've seen them up to 100 bucks too but with more drawers. I think that style was made by Waterloo and should be fairly sturdy. You may want a new top on that one.

Good thought. I'm more of a weekend warrior kind of person, so nothing too heavy duty would be going on. Right now I have an old bench that looks like it was built in the 70's... It's sturdy, but sags, is very dirty, has holes drilled into it everywhere and Nuts/Screws in it everywhere. I'm debating on building a new one myself, or buying something like I've linked here and building out from there...

IIRC there is no center support which causes it to sag.

I dunno if your looking for just a workbench but I would save the $50 and look at something built well, looks good, and affordable....

Thank you! The only similar ones I could find like this had a center support... From the picture I attached above, it looked like it was sagging a bit in the middle too. Guess I'll end up building myself... or at least holding off more.

So are you looking for a workbench, a bench with drawers, or a workstation-type deal?

I'm looking for a workstation that I can sit at and do work like drilling and vise work. I am not a mechanic by trade, more so woodwork and tinkering? I think I might just build a bench that fits my space... and add a lateral file cabinet beneath for the $50.

I've got one with a few more drawers and I think it was about $130 new about 15 years ago. The one in your picture was probably $90 or $100.

I use it to hold a countertop for my shop sink.
