I posted this in the garage sale thread but i know not a lot of people visit it so i decided to make my own thread. I just got this today for free on craigslist. It is a late 60's to mid 70's craftsman workstation. The drawers are off the track but that should be a easy fix and the body is in great shape just a little rust on the bottom. I have no room for another tool chest but i will probably keep it.

Will it slip under your workbench ?

or .........

Slap a lamp on it, put it next to your couch, and call it an end table.

or ..........

Stick it in the middle of your kitchen, put a butchers block on it, and call it a island.

:D

Is it missing 1 or some drawers? I might have a gray one that might fit it. If you need one drop me a message with the measurements.. Rich

They came in multiple versions with expandable options available. One drawer up to 5 drawers (IIRC). There were also shelves and doors with locks available as well. The back can be left open, add a second door, or closed up with a solid panel. The case of the box is built with bolt holes to accommodate any configuration. One version of the workstation even had metal "pegboard" sides for using peg hooks.

To add a drawer (of the right size) you would also need a pair of slide channels (and bolts) for the drawer (or make a pair).

Thanks to jake's help i got the drawers out. It was a little difficult because they were so out of line but i got it. I can't believe the guy just gave it away for free because he couldn't spend 10 minutes fixing it? Oh well his laziness is why i got it for free so i should thank him for that  Here are the pics of the drawers out. I am going to clean it up before putting it back together tho. There is a little surface rust on the side of the inside but it is still very clean!

I have this one, it used to have just a blank side with one shelf and a locking door, Then I found another one but it was gray and missing a drawer so I put them in. Then I found the drawers only at restore and got the red ones. and got rid of the gray ones, I kept one that I was going to put under my press, But the drawer was too wide for where I wanted to put it.

Well i cleaned it up tonight and put the drawers back on. The first two drawers work okay but the third drawer keeps getting stuck and falling off track. I did this close to dark so i will see in the morning what is wrong. I think i might sell it tho. It is really cool but the drawers **** on it and it takes up a bunch of space. I might put a high price on it so i don't sell it and i can tell myself i tried to sell it

Truth be told, it's probably a $20-$40 box. They look great, but there isn't much value in them. Between the badge and the drawers, there's probably more money in the parts on eBay than the total value of the box itself sadly.

As for the falling drawer, check to see if the channel is bowed, or the box is bent. Either could cause the opening to be too wide to keep the drawer in the slide.

I'd hate to see it go piecemeal.

I might just put it on craigslist for a high price and see if anyone bites if not i will just keep it and find some use for it. I need to find a place other then my garage because i don't have any room in there for this. No way will i part it out or let it get scrapped.
