I have this craftsman wrench that has 5/16 stamped on one side and 8mm stamped on the other side. Did craftsman at some point in time actually manufacture these like that. I know 5/16 and 8mm are close enough to use for both sizes. I just wondering if I have a wrench that was stamped incorrectly somehow. I've never seen this on any of the multitude of other craftsman wrenches I have. I got this one as part of an estate sale lot.

Given that the difference is two and a half thou., well within tolerance for those wrench sizes, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the same wrench was used but just marked differently.
This is likely a mistake. Someone didn't quite empty a feeder between batches is my guess.

When it comes to industrial tooling you will see dual stamps, on our 1" drive Proto sockets the 1.25"
also has a 32mm stamp, 1.375" has 35mm stamp and 1.5" has a 38mm stamp as an example.
