Picked this today too. Is this an older 1/2" drive breaker bar? If so anyone know what year they began to make these and ended them? Any value other than cool and its going in my box. No forge marking etc. Thanks!

The Sears/Craftsman catalogs called them "L" Handles in the early years and then called them "Ell" Handles in the twilight years they were offered.

These were offered for individual sale in the catalogs between 1946-1976 approximately. After that point you could get them as pieces in multi-piece tool sets. I imagine they included them in the sets to liquidate remaining stock.

They are a cool item to have. Sometimes you need the "oomph" of something like this without the fear of over torquing.

I'd be curious to know if New Britain made the very early models of these or not, since they made an array of Craftsman tools prior to Moore Drop Forge taking over. MDF would be responsible for the large majority from 1948 through 1967. After that Easco, who acquired MDF in some time in 1967, would have finished the remainder.

They were also included in sets of spark plug sockets.
It is strange that they have no series code though.
