Craftsman’s Workbench...

While most everyone was busy watching the Super Bowl Game, I was relaxing in my make-over garage. I installed three more florescent light fixtures to the ceiling by one of the overhead doors. And put together a workbench that Sears had on sale. It’s a Craftsman part number 59471 without the back-wall. And was on sale for $99.00. I needed some more counter space and wanted something to fit under the window to store wheel weights and tools for my new tire changer and balancer.

The workbench was made in the USA and rather nice quality. Everything lined up and went together nicely, and only took a half hour to assemble. Good instructions (lots of pictures, few words), and Just the right amount of fasteners with none left over. The two drawers are a little on the thin side; but adequate. And they have full extension ball bearing slides. The top is 1&3/8" thick particle board. Most likely I’ll cover it with something to make it more durable. It may not be Lista; but all in all a good value for $99.00...

I have that workbench (mine has three drawers) For the price i guess it's ok.
Just a little thin.. I screwed a 1x4 acoss the back-so **** won't roll or get pushed off. I want something to put on top of that "pressed wood top", just
don't know what. Mine is already stained w/ different chemicals-polished three IROC wheels on it. Just for kicks I called Sears too see what the price is for a replacment drawer-the long one-(to add later),get this, plain drawer $40.00, bearing
slides 25.00-NO HARDWARE!! To get that you must BUY that bag of "hardware"-$20.00 That alluminum pull acoss the drawer is 10,or 15.00 I think. At that price no add on drawer for me! I also don't like the force needed to close a drawer....But at that price it's ok. Enjoy!

slides 25.00-NO HARDWARE!! To get that you must BUY that bag of "hardware"-$20.00 That alluminum pull acoss the drawer is 10,or 15.00 I think. At that price no add on drawer for me! I also don't like the force needed to close a drawer....But at that price it's ok. Enjoy!

You would be almost better off purchasing a whole new workbench fron Sears.

The in store price was $99 on Saturday.
