Craftsmen find

I was at the Galleria mall recently and spied a screwdriver in the parking lot not far from the Sears store that closed down last year.
Just my luck, it's a made in the U.S.A. flat head screwdriver. It has a few nicks on the handle but the metal is excellent.

Looks usable - a little smoothing of the road rash with some energy cloth or wet sandpaper and it will be in pretty good shape. Or you can take it to Lowe's and try to warranty it... At least it didn't cost you a plugged tire or a new one. A decent free tool is always good. Right now there is probably somebody working on the new casino wondering where their screwdriver is....[emoji43]

Good for you. Over the years I have bought a couple sets of those. The new ones always felt a little sharp at first. Didn’t take to long to break them in and then felt nice in the hand.

Interesting you bring that up. While many of mine have that unique smell, I have some, mostly the non-flat head, the ones without the red, that have no smell whatsoever. Some are many years old. The formula must have changed at some point.

I found these unused ones at an estate/garage sale on Saturday. Based on the price I paid for everything they were almost free.

That brings back memories of the smell. Having to find the exact Craftsman screwdriver for my Dad when he was under the car. Still have a few of his red handles.

I balked at $1.99 Ea for 6 USA Made in unused condition at the Salvation Army on my lunch hour. Are you suggesting that I go back for them?

My dad had those Craftsman screwdrivers so they hold great memories. I have my own set that I use around the house as well.

Free is a great price!

I’m not. All I was saying was when I figured out the cost per tool at that particular sale, the unused screwdrivers were probably about 25 cents each. I’m not a big fan of Craftsman screwdrivers for my own personal use, but it’s hard to pass up those prices.

Wanted to ad my little vise, I cleaned it up just enough to make it look good, but not so good that I would not use it. I caught the Sears Craftsman "bug" from my grandfather way back in the late 60s early 70s when he would take me to Sears and look at all the tools. Those were the days!
