Does Craftsman Professional automatically mean USA made? Coming from Canada I don't have the luxury of stopping by my local sears and taking a look (if they even had the set, it would no doubt be off shore). I would be willing to make a boarder run if I knew foresure, as I'd really like some USA Craftsman.

Anyone have experience with this set?

professional use usually means professional or industrial line, USA made. no guarantee thats what sears will send out.

i dont use mine all that often, so i picked up a gearwrench set. got std and metric for 20 bucks shipped.

I have been to some pretty big Sears stores that only carried a small amount of the professional or industrial lines of tools. Unless your intention is to shop for more than just tools, I'd just order them online. There are some really great deals on the Sears website.

Craftsman Industrial line = Yes - U.S.A, you can see a very good selection of the Industrial line at www.SummitRacing.com.

I bought the set on your link that I got around this time last year. They are U.S.A.

Craftsman Professional wrenches I've see in last 12-18 months have been converted to China made.

It looks like they have confused us all again with the "Craftsman Professional" brand and the "Craftsman Professional Use" category on Sears.com. From the looks of things it looks like you have found a set of made in USA Craftsman Industrial open end wrenches. These tools should currently be the best Craftsman has to offer. The Canadian website is not as detailed as the US version so the picture of the set is not as clear.

It looks like the same set I purchased a while back. Some snapshots from the Craftsman Industrial catalog were uploaded so you can read a little about the brand. From what I understand the Craftsman Professional brand might still be around but I think (I'm not for sure) the made in USA line of the Craftsman Professional brand ended over a year ago.

Some of the tools being marketed in the Craftsman Professional Use category are the made in USA Craftsman chrome sockets (regular Craftsman from years ago) and the Craftsman Industrial tool line.

Here is a copy of the Craftsman Industrial catalog to read.

Ha, according to the Sears Canada site, there is no such thing as a "open end wrench set". Henceforth a planned border run. I'm only 2 hours, and it's a nice drive.

DOE sell slower than other styles and should still be older stock.

I get them at small prices compared to combo wrenches. Off the used market of course.

Only problem with that set is it's missing the 11/16 and 13/16 wrench. I hate it when they skip sizes. It would have been better to have the 11/16 and 13/16 and not have the 15/16 and 1inch. On a few sets I thought they skipped the wrenches that were doubled up in the other set. (19mm and 3/4 for example) but 11/16 and 13/16? No reason it's why it's not there...

The Craftsman Industrial line is the old US made Danaher product with the Industrial name on it. If that's what we have to do to get US made tools, so be it, but it's regular RP Craftsman with a new name.

Like the Who said, "New boss, same as the old boss".

When I purchased my set I also had purchased a couple of open stock wrenches with the missing sizes. The open stock wrenches also had the 19/32" and 25/32" sizes also. Only one is available at the moment.

A nice wrench roll would be a nice addition.
