A shop that is 5 minutes from home had advertised a big IR compressor with cooler for $300. I figured it was a typo or the compressor was shot.
I called this morning and couldn't get through to the guy so I went over. He was just finishing up the sale to another person. I think the seller is a bit sadistic as he went ahead and showed me his original receipt for the compressor without the cooler at $4300.
He had the heads rebuilt recently, but the machine would not keep up with his 10x20 foot plasma table so they upgraded. This unit ran a good size fab shop that makes structural supports out of big material.
He had a couple 400 amp Lincoln CV power supplies and wire feeders for $500 each but they were 3 phase. The compressor looked like a 7+ hp from a distance and was likely 3 phase also.
The compressor was a bit bigger than I really needed and a single phase motor in 7 hp would have been a pretty penny, but that was a smoking deal. He could have asked much more for that compressor and easily had double or triple his asking price. Something doesn't quite meet the eye.
