http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=4238511#post4238511 I had seen a Hpyperthern 1250 on Craig List for $500. With no Cables. (he said they had been stolen) I posted on here and some said I might be buying a boat anchor, others said take a chance. I was trying to find the price of cables. I had been trying to call the guy for a week. No answer. Send him a e-mail and no answer. I figured he already sold it. I run on to this a lot when a super deal appears on CL. They wont delete the ad or answer e-mail or phone. I called late Sat. night and got a answer. He sounded like he wasn't all there. He said he still had it. I had him give me his address and directions. (150 miles away) and told him I would be there before noon on Sun. and asked him if he would be answering the phone Sun morning as I was coming up and wanted to make sure he hadn't sold it during the night. I got about half way there and called him and no answer. I begin to get a bad feeling. I was afraid I might get robbed and that has happened in our area by CL posters. I finally got there and not the best section of town. The address he gave me was a bogus address (no such house number) I asked a neighbor about it and told me to go a few houses down as the lady there knew every one in that area. I tried to call the fellow but no answer. I knocked on the ladies door and explained the situation. She asked to see the phone number I was calling. She said it was her sons number. She said several people had come to look at it but no money. One guy said he would be back with the money but never showed up. She got her son on the phone and I said I got $400 cash in my pocket right now, will you take that. He said yes. Sounded like he was drunk. I didn't hesitate. She said she buys bank repo houses and that was in the garage. She didn't even know what it was for. Said the cables was with it at one time. I got it home, It looked in good shape, took the cover off to check it for dust and anything burnt. It looked new inside. Now I have to find some one who has a 1250 so I can take it to them and see if they will plug their cable in it to see if it works. I don't want to spend another $500 to find out it doesn't. I will just cut my loss if it doesn't. I stopped by a Hypertherm dealer in my area and he doesn't have a cable to test it and said it would be $90 to send in in and check it out.

$90 maybe the cheapest insurance you can buy. Send it in. Have it checked. You would then have peace of mind.
Sure was a lot of bs to go thru to get it.

I have some cables and a gun from one that doesn't work.
We need to talk and see if my cables will fit your unit

Sounds like you may have gotten a great deal. If you decide to buy a new torch....go with the Duramax upgrade, faster, cleaner cuts and longer consumable life. If you were in NH I'd check it out for you in my shop for free....

The PAC2xt is an old system from Thermal Dynamics.....probably late 80's vintage. They are a competitive product to Hypertherm. I suspect they still make the torch consumables....but probably nothing in regards to replacement parts for the power supply.
