Craigslist Baldor grinder

I bought this 1/2 hp grinder on Craigslist for 45$. The right wheel guard is cobbled together. Two out of the three screw holes were busted out on the cover. The left side wasn't much better. It had been cracked in half and welded but it was intact. The cover had two of the three holes broken off too.
I welded the holes closed on the cover and redrilled the holes. Took it all apart and put in new bearings. Smoothed out the welds on the guard. Sandblasted the whole thing (and my left eye). A fresh coat of paint and some new plexi on shield and here she is....

nice resto, did you just tape off the labels for blast and paint? it looks new!

I was able to take the Baldor tag off but I did tape all of the decals off.

Yeah new Lexan. Cut it out of a big piece I have.

That's one sweet Baldor you got there. You should try to get some kind of guard on that wire wheel. It won't be pretty if you get something stuck on it.

I didn't use this one since I have a 3/4hp one in the shed. So i sold it at my garage sale today for 100$. Sorry to see it go but at least someone is giving it a good home and using it.
