Yea, he says several times its US General. His price is off by about a thousand but at least he knows he's not tricking anyone with the stickers.

Ya I found it searching for a US general box. I definitely want that set up, but would preferably go buy all new stuff with side boxes instead of cabinets for about 800 bucks less.

Think he's been working at Sears !!!#@@&&!! Been learning from the best.

Actually he's MORE HONEST than Sears as they would have covered up the US General tag, but have the big SnapOn logo with no mention to customer.

That's an awful nice setup for $1,800 for someone wanting quickbuy as alternative to a new SnapOn box. Over $600 for just bolting together a few boxes is pretty healthy profit. However, he doesn't mention in ad whether he'll deliver in Chicago or not . . . . but if he did deliver that's not a bad business model to make some money in a big city. Thus, he's the Harbor Freight toolbox "delivery truck" guy!! ;)

I dont mean to jack the OP's thread, however its along the same lines

I found a 13 drawer roller with 2 side cabinets on Craigslist for $750. Thats essentially list price for the package less tax.

given they are all in like new condition and the slides operate fine should I pony up the $750 for the set or should I go for less? Part of me wants to just pull the trigger and pay because I have been looking for about a year for used ones on C/L, the other part of me says they are still used and should probably be a little less than $75-100 off new.

what would you do?

Well you figure one bottom box plus two side boxes new are 759 new plus tax. Add $53 for 7% tax is about $825. He close is he vs. HF? The way I look at it the first price someone lists is never the final price. Id offer 675 and he happy at $700. For me to go to HF is $50 just in fuel. The savings is more tools to buy! But depending on who is closer it may not be worth it. Link to the ad?

HF is close to both myself and the seller, within 5 miles.

I think im going to hit him with $650 and go from there. Doesnt seem unreasonable. I payed 300 for my first 13 drawer roller, and it came with a 1.25" thick maple butcher block on top of it.

Are these the smooth or crinkcle finish? Since HF is that close to both of you offer $650 like you said. I assume they're empty right?

i wouldnt pay (almost) new price for anything that wasnt new.

to me new is still in the box, factory sealed, and sitting on the floor or shelf of my local store. everything else is used...

just my $0.02

Not sure where youre at jfish, but at $650-750 for that size box Id be looking at older truck brands, not HF. Personally, if youre set on having that HF setup Id be at ~$300 absolute tops bc as crewchief says, theyre used and used does not have nearly the value.

Here is the set

3Gb3Le3H15Ea5Fc5H6d5pd9ff57f3179d1d5f.jpg

its all three pieces in the original crinkle finish, I offered $600, he countered with $650. Im gonna try and get them sometime this week. Im happy with that.

adding those to my existing 13 drawer roller, removing the wheels and a prefab counter top will give me a nice 100" work bench.

Thanks for all the input guys!
