Picked up this drill press for $40.00

Nice drill press!!! Love the old equipment -- is it a Delta, or Rockwell/Delta? For $40 and assuming that the bearings are in decent shape, you got a heck of a deal.

Not real sure on the make, the owner thought it was a buffalo. It is very tight and works well.

Even if the bearing were bad, that’s a fantastic deal! And well worth ten times the price since it included the cross slide vise. In any event,, it'll last for generations to come!

Looks like a Delta Drill Press to me. Likely built between 1935 to 1950. See if there are the numbers “DP 220" cast into the side of the head. Then it would be Delta’s 14" model.

Man, I hate guys like you! Very nice score. BTW: I too think it has a Delta look to it. It does not remind me of a Buffolo in any way, and as another poster stated, Buffolo was cast into the head of every Buffolo I have ever seen too.

I doubt it's a Buffalo, as far as I know they all had "Buffalo" casted into the side, mine does and so does the others I've seen. Who cares though, it's obviously a nice old,quality piece of American machinery.

Oldcarguy was right it is a delta. It has the "dp220" cast in the head,also got a $hitload of drill bits with it too.

You can't go wrong for that price. Hell, I sold my crappy HF press with shelled bushings in the motor and spindle for $65.

Good build old Delta. My coal miner grandfather that taught me some good common sense had one a drill press that looked just like that How come no one has said it yet? "you ****"! Good get sir! Is the quill tight?

It is very tight, funny thing I emailed the guy and didn't hear anything from him for over a week. He called me and told me I was the first guy to respond an half hour later it was in my truck. I must have got a hundread pounds of drill bits also. Now I need to find a drill sharpner.

For an inexpensive solution to sharpening drill bits when you don't have or want to learn the skill to sharpen then on a bench grinder. I'd suggest purchasing a Drill Doctor.

I have sharpened many bits on a grinder, but admit my results were not always consistent. I bought a Drill Doctor on Clearance at Home Depot, and I am quite happy with it.

The drill doctor is now on my wishlist. I tried the bench grinder for drills, not very good at it.
