i figured since we all love ripping on the craigslist crew we needed one of these

this thread is simple

put any ridiculous craigslist ad you come across and a reason why if not obvious

lets get the ball rolling
http://madison.craigslist.org/tls/1467274190.html

reason: price versus pics.... doesnt add up

Did a quick search this morning for a CL fail to conribute to this thread. There is always a ton of crappy Cl ads around here. So I was looking at the newest posts..and ran across a Cman drill press for $80. Damn it if I didn't jump in the truck and buy it. Definitely not a fail, its like brand new!

Now I'm back home & will search for a "fail ad".

Damn GJ, the more time I am on here it never fails, the more I buy tools! (could be worse I guess).

This Einstein can't get even close, despite it being spelled right in the pic.

That's a widespread problem with Craigslist posters. I was looking for a used furnace on CL, and most would list their furnaces as "furnace for sale". :D No brand, no model, no age, no btu, no lp/ng, no efficiency rating.

There's one on the local CL now. They apparently need to sell so they can buy a car. I'm betting if they just listed the appropriate info, it would have sold by now (before they lowered their price, even). The only info they listed was that it's 4 months old and 99.9% efficient! That's a heckuva efficiency rating! :)

Here is a guy saying that his rebuilt air compressor runs great. It is pictured right next to his brand new compressor.

you can check out "screen hunter" I think it was a freeware down load from "cnet" or downloads.com, you can also google it, I use it for selling software on ebay, so I can show, as you put it "screen shots"

Here is the link (swear this is a real ad)! Wonder if he accidentally put that picture in the ad instead of the press he is trying to sell?!?!?!?

That guy was educated in Europe; They use the period instead of a comma for the thousands separator. (but it's a salesman 'fail'. Rule number 1; know who you're selling to!)

Why is this a craigslist fail? Because the guy posts this ad every week or so - he obviously never gets any offers, but week after week he posts the same ad over and over and over.

I think he has been trying this for at least a year. I don't care how much someone originally paid for something... it is only worth what the market will bear, and in Piedmont, South Dakota (population 2900) the market isn't too strong for $2500+ tool boxes no matter what special edition it might be.

I don't know what box is really worth, but clearly it is somewhere south of $2650.

Why is it a fail? This guy has had the car on there for a year and a half, it's bright yellow, and it's got a Chevy engine. :spit:

This thing started at $350 well over a year ago. In three or four more years when it gets down to the $5 it's worth it may sell.

I've seen this ad reposted EVERYDAY for the past month or so with no price reduction. My personal favorite part is the "will consider offers starting at $3000". Not like he'll get anywhere near $3000, but who would consider offering more than the asking price.
