I thought I'd see if we couldn't get a thread started like the HF Coupon Thread but for Craigslist Finds instead.

Yesterday I bought this Hollands Vise off CL, the guy had it listed for a couple of weeks for $75 but I got it for $20.

It's got a lot of nicks but it's a working vise not a show piece, all I did was clean it up some then I primer/painted it. The jaws are 4.5" and opens too approximately 7", for some reason there's no numbers on it to tell me which model it is. BTW, it weighs about 60lbs.

I picked up a rubber band ball, about the size of a gof ball.

Best part:

Wait for it...

It was free!

Bought a new in the box Bosch Cordless Brute 18volt Tough Drill Driver 7618-01 yesterday, from what I see they run about $280. Not a "you ****" price but I paid $120.

I got this Cornwell tool box and tool chest with these tools inside for $40. I'm in the process of cleaning it up and making some liners for the drawers.

Why bother posting CL links of the "find"? They expire in a week and become totally worthless. Heck, after I sell something I remove the ad so it doesn't even last a week. Pictures of the item are a smarter move as it will last longer.

Saw the following on Nashville Craigslist today:

[email protected]
14 Drawer heavy duty Tool Box - VIDMAR - $400 (Lebanon)

I have a prior military 14 drawer tool box (vidmar box). This was a US Navy tool box just a few years ago and now has been cleaned up and painted to be a nice too box. I have added heavy duty casters also. This box is made of steel and is sturdier than any Snap On or Mac box every thought about being. You can open the bottom drawer, stand in it and jump and the box will not tip! The box will come will divider plates you can use to organize the drawers and it does have a lock but I don't have the key (I am sure a locksmith can make one).
This does not come with any tools.
The dimensions are:
27.5" deep
30" wide
63" tall

On the vise, it's rough but not as rough as it looks. The jaws aren't worn too awful much and fit well. The stand might have been great for whoever built it, but I would want to move the vise to a bench. The stand then is just scrap. Of course you see the handle is missing. On the side of the vise facing the camera it looks like a patch has been welded on, but surely I'm mistaken. I would want to see the vice in person. If everything checked out good, I would hate to go over $100 and would offer first $40or $50. Oh, the screw and nut would need to be checked for tightness. Bear in mind I may be all wet on the pricing, I don't see the name of the vise which would affect the price.

I thought my offer of $100 was far, now that he turned it down I'll wait and see if he contacts me down the road........next offer will be $75 tops.

I just sent him an email asking if he would take 200 for them

I don't really need them, but if he lets them go for 200, I'll bite.

Those are bad ***!! I'd be all over them even slightly above asking price. Of course, I would try to negotiate but I would be all over them FAST!

I've always wanted a real air compressor, but only owned a midget style. I had an old six year old DSLR camera I had replaced and decoded to list it on CL. I turned down all kinds of offers, and then saw an ad for a vertical Delta with tools. I figured I would take a gamble on the rare idea the lister might want my camera, but knew he'd say no most likely. Anyhow, much to my surprise I get a note back to call the guy. I called him and he was an older guy 70-ish and he and I chatted for a little while. He said he'd call later and we would get together to discuss. He never called, and I wasn't about to harass the old fella. Two weeks went by and I'll be darned if he didn't call me and apologize but he had forgotten. He asked me to come over Saturday and so I did and he was the neatest guy I've ever met, he was no longer able to use his shop, and had sold off most everything except the compressor and tools. He was moving in a week or two. He had lost his camera equipment in a flood years ago and wanted to get back into photography since he couldn't work in his shop. My camera set had the camera, lenses, etc.

I did my best to talk him out of a trade, but he insisted we do the deal. I explained I didn't want to seem like I was taking advantage of him. He and his wife were so kind and friendly. Anyhow, we made the trade, and my boys and I loaded it up and brought it home.

It may not be the best compressor, but it's as clean as a whistle and I love it.

You made a fair deal with the gentleman... you probably did him a favor hauling off that compressor. BTW, looks like a decent unit to boot!

It was important to me to show him the respect that he deserved. My dad taught me two things.

1. RESPECT YOUR ELDERS
2. WHEN YOU MAKE A MISTAKE, APOLOGIZE AMD MAKE OT RIGHT.

I figured I'd go with number 1 so number 2 wouldn't be necessary.

I picked this up on Tuesday for $200. It was 120 miles away but it was worth it. It was a boat trailer that the guy was using for a flat bottom boat. It sat extremely high because the axle sat under the leaf springs. I cut the goal post things that hug the boat off, replaced the shackles, moved the axle over the springs, decked it, shortened the tongue because it was way long and welded a new hitch on, and rewired it with new lights. I've probably put another $150 into it so as it sits now I'm about $350 into it. The guy I bought it from said it had new bearings last year and I looked at them and they looked clean. Still need to add a railing, add a small deck on the tongue for a toolbox, add a strap winch, and make a tailgate/ramp for it.

EDIT: The deck is 55" x 10'
