Checked the free section of CL last night (normally it's all junk that someone doesn't want to pay to take to a dump) but I see an ad for tools so I figured what the hell I'll bite and replied. Lady had an ad for diesel injection timing kit for Cummings engines. Got an email this morning saying it's in the driveway and an address.
I go over to the address and she's cleaning out the garage or something. She had the timing kit, hose clamps on a rack, bolt cutters, large Proto pickle fork, some kit of bearing installer?, couple gas cans, belt installer?

I wish I knew what engines the timing kit is for but can't find anything so far.

There is some stuff I forgot. The locks all keyed alike, decent quality. There is what looks like a hub installer for 4X4 but I'm thinking diesel truck no sure, OTC 7084
Then the puller or installer? OTC 7180
Some chain hooks and accessories

That looks like the tool you would use to set base timing on a Cummins M11, N14, and some V (V8, V12, V16) engines. You remove an injector and the rocker levers; one dial measures TDC of the piston, the other measures travel of the pushrod.

What does the white label near the bottom dial indicator say on it? Looks like it has the various engine models listed...

Looks like a sweeney gauge? Mostly of limited use these days, and I am assuming you would much prefer bluepoint SP500? (94-98 dodges and industrial 6BT with inline pump)?

Or you snatched it up to live up to user name?

I didn't know if I could use it but I have a plan to buy a Crown or Gillig school bus one day and some come with Cummins engines so I replied. I didn't think anyone would reply anyway. It's a good score though. I figured out the one tool that looks like a puller is a bearing race/cup installer for tractor trailers. Couldn't find out what the other one's for.
The worse part is she was listing a "frame puller rack" or something like that. Not being a body guy I decided to just ask for the timing tool. I get to her place and it's not a rack it's a big tool box full of body puller, hydraulic pumps or whatever. I could use those for my truck restore. I asked but too late. Someone was on the way to get it. Not mad though I took all the other stuff even the gas cans. You can never have enough gas can around the house. Between the two stroke stuff and regular stuff.

Most school buses of semi-modern era typically have DT466, navistar 7.3, cat 3126, cummins 6BT, or cummins ISB.

usually 6-7liters.

ISB is the 24valve 5.9/6.7 and almost always electronic injection, similar to those found in 98.5-up dodges. 6BT is older mechanical version, 12 valve 5.9.

Electronic/ISB obviously doesnt require such a timing tool since that is done with scan tools but not really adjusted. 6BT with inline pump does have adjustable timing. Pump has a small camshaft with 6 lobes and 6 plungers, looks like a mini inline 6 engine. That bluepoint tool mentioned is used to measure plunger lift in mm at TDC.

Someone else named off several "archaic" or "classic" cummins which would use the sweeney gauge, chances are you may never see one of those engines unless you work in a diesel salvage yard or around old heavy equipment on a daily basis. Still cool.

A nice tool to be on the look out for is a "barring tool" OTC-7471A, Cummins-3824591, snap on YA9565A, ect ect

This: https://quickserve.cummins.com/info/qsol/promotions/tools/mr_perf_tools.html would be an even better deal, but I believe it is discontinued?

Well I'm looking at 60's and 70's buses so would that era have the engines this tool will work for? I saw a date inside the case from 1985, lol

Not familiar enough with those era engines. Have worked with vt903, 855, ect ect, but do not know if they would be found in a school bus or not. Likely would use such a timing tool, and would likely not work with previous mentioned barring tool. (was assuming "late model")

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Locks :) Wilson Bohannon perhaps?

No there are Almont "re-key" padlocks. Seem to be an odd lock but work good. I'll ebay them most likely and see what I can get. No need to keep them I have about 30 big American locks I use for my vending business.
