In my opinion, if in good shape, I wouldn't pay any more than 50% of what you could buy the stuff for new, including coupons. Also, his prices seem to be a little high on what the stuff costs new. Do your homework. If you can't get the price lower than 50% you might as well buy new in the first place and forget this guy.

He doesn't state what model it is, but since it has a side cabinet, we'll assume it is the 44", 13-drawer roll cab, the standard 7 drawer top box and a side cabinet with either shelf or drawers.
Typical sale prices on these are $350 for the roll cab, $299 for the top box and $199 for the side cabinet.
That's $850 new, plus tax, so let's say $900 out the door.
second-hand units should be about half of new, so $450 for the set would be reasonable.
Individually, the side box should go for $100 and top for $150-200, roll cab for $200-250

i'm noticing a lot lately that people are asking insane prices for stuff on craigslist. is it just a sign of a bad economy or are people really that ignorant and think their used stuff is worth new price?

Ingnorance with a pinch of greed thrown in to really highlight the overall flavor essence of "douche" . LOL.

I see prices all over the place really.
Roll cabs tend to be highly inflated as folks really think they are going to get 90% back out of a box they paid new price for off the truck.

In a great economy where everyone can pull coin, then prices flux, but now, and especially in winter, only the most desperate or those that really want to sell to get something else seem to be willing to bend to a low offer.

Cars, tools, property and high end goods. It's all the same, or at least to me.

I love the people whp buy the trailers for $300 or less, slap $50 worth of wood on them. Use them for a year to let the surface rust build up then ask $500 for them. Or maybe that's just my area.

Definately shouldn't sell for more than 60% of the new price.

jimnickol, I think doing anything over 60% new retail with coupons as a factor is fiscally unsound to me unless you REALLY need it in a hurry or have no access to HF tools in your area.

I have a 2nd HF 5dwr older style red crinkle coat cart that has been professionally sanded, clearcoated and babied in a home garage.

I bought it new for around $199 with no coupon as the coupons for that cart several years ago were hard to find. If I sold the thing I would wnat $100, especially since the time to clear coat to undo the dust catching crinkle coat paint, but now with the current 5 dwrs being $160 new and in nice bright red, the old style used is a $80 cart if not less on CL. At that price, I might as well hang onto it or try and trade it off for tools or some other goods as $60-$75 for a damn good and very capable used $200 (and really $299 HF list price) cart is an absurd loss to me until I really need more tool room or space in my garage.

And this is from teh other side.

If someone wants to shell out coin for the whole set let them. The 41" top and bottoms are reasonable. It;s the side cab that is $$$$$.

But u knew that.
