Picked this up on craigslist last month....

Was working...when parked 30 years ago...

Found a similar one in a 1955 Fairbanks-Morse catalog.....priced at $754.00.

That was a lot of $$$ back then.

I'm baffled. Looks like some kind of rotary gizmo - alternator/generator/starter tester??

The romantic hills of central Umbria, Italy,
Distributor tester?

Ding ding ding! Winner winner chicken dinner.

We had one in our high school autoshop - you could pre-set up and test any distributor on that beast, if you are into pre-EI vehicles, this is almost a must have if you're doing hot rods and other cool stuff like that. I did my Mazda R100 dual plug special dual distributors on one just like that - drove the teacher nuts until he found out the car had dual dizzys, and they were set different.

(And somehow you got the impopression I was a nice girl? ha ha ha!!!)

So... how much did it set you back? C'mon, dude, spill it! :D

Looks like a old kitchen appliance. I have an Allen Synchrograph but much newer than yours and a benchtop model.

Cool and a very good price.
The question is, did you buy it to use it or to restore and look at it
