Is anyone using a search engine that they like? I used CraigsPal but it was shut down recently due to a cease-and-desist order (?). I liked it's ability to filter in many ways like location, price, category, etc. When I Google Craigslist search engines I get so much BS it's unreal.

Thanks!

That should still work. Crazedlist was also shut down.

I think it's stupid that they are shutting these down, this is nothing more than a google search on multiple sites. Besides, you can still search for craigslist ads using google search by simply inserting "site:" with the domain into the search.

I used searchtempest, but they are having problems as well. Apparently Craigslist changed their coding and it messed up all the search softwares.

I use adhuntr.com too (used to be called allofcraigs.com or something).

It's so stupid that CL spends money and energy going after these sites, rather than incorporating their own "search everywhere" option. Why haven't they done that yet?

I use this one as well. ST itself is not having any problems. CL changed the way that their site provides results, and it affects how ST can gather results and present them. I've found no serious limitations.

On my Android phone, I use CraigsNotify to do automated continuous searches and alert me when results are found.

Man, craiglook.com was the best. I found so many great deals on car parts.

Craigslist has explained their position before. They claim that 3rd party search sites are too hard on their servers, and they are not interested in creating their own nationwide search function because their concept is emphasize local, community-based classifieds.

I would suspect that, since they are about half-owned by eBay, that there's a specific reason they will never support "national" or "regional" search functions to find things for cheap or free.

Resistance is futile! People want to search lots of areas and thus 3rd party sites will always exist.. CL should just work with these people or make their own site more search friendly!

I've used searchtempest but like someone else said they are only showing like the last 7 days.

I use "Craigslist Notification" on my android phone. You can have it check multiple locations at one time, it saves searches and notifies you when a saved search has a result. For each positive result of a search, it shows the title of the listing and a thumbnail picture. The thumbnail picture is great because you can weed out a bunch of stuff without having to open the listing.

I don't even look at Craigslist on my computer anymore unless I want to see a picture with more detail. I check my phone whenever I have a minute at home, work, vacation, etc.

It works great.

Searchtempest allows you to search distance from a zip, search by region, or just a single site. Plus, you can add results from ebay and amazon, too, I think - if you want.
