So as many of you do, I scour Craigslist daily several times a day just on the off chance I'd find something of interest. Well yesterday turned out to be my day.

I found a Craftsman box listed within an hour away. It looked a little rough but it was hard to tell from the pictures. Now given I found the ad two hours after it was listed I was sure it would be gone but I sent a text asking if the guy still had it. To my surprise he did and I met him a few hours later and bought it. It was rough as I expected, but was in a lot better shape for being in a body shop. He told me he bought it from a friend who got a bigger box and it was probably 5 or so years old. Needless to say I still thought it was older given the weight of the pieces and smoothness of the friction glides. So I got a 17 drawer flip top, three piece box all for a $100. Not bad I think to myself and drive it home.

Fast forward to this afternoon and to the even better part. I ended up just locking it in my truck bed over night thinking is just deal with getting it out today. So I unload it, stack, and begin to look for part numbers. To my surprise as I take out the bottom box I find in all caps "MADE IN THE USA" and a date stamp of 08-99. I was grinning big at this point.

I never thought I'd find a decent deal on a used box left alone USA Craftsman box. The plan now is to strip it of all the stickers, clean it good, and a decent polish or wax.

The bottom box alone goes for $100 around here, another $75 for the middle and $150 for the top...I'd say YOU ****!!

Very nice. Congrats on the score

Nice find on that mid box. Those 4 drawer mid boxes are hard to find. That thing has to be pretty tall though.

Give it a good cleaning and you should have a nice waterloo craftsman usa box!!!

That's great that you got it. That was a bargain around here, too. I saw it but I'm of full on boxes right now. Your pic shows it was in better shape than it looked in the sellers pics.
Great score!

No doubt, craigslist is the deal...

A few weeks ago I got a 6 drawer craftsman 40" bottom box in great shape. The guy was asking 125 but I got it for 100.

Needless to say I WAS STOKED!!!:rocker:

It's right around 6' tall. Ideally I would've like the taller bottom box with 9 drawers, but beggars can't be choosey.

Just keep looking on CL...just because it wasn't there today doesn't mean it won't be there tomorrow. Then when you find it, resell what you don't want on CL. Thats what makes it great.
