One reason might be that it's just a common pipe vise - not a collectible.
OK thanks. I thought since I couldn't find anything online not a pic, for sale, or anything maybe there wasn't a bunch of them around. I paid $10 and plan to use it so it should be a good vise for me either way. Thanks for the info. Crane was in business for quite a while in Chicago...there is a pretty good company history at this site. Pipe vises are so similar to one another it is likely many "manufactures" just had the local foundry cast their name in common patterns. Ed.

Thanks. That article said they changed they're name to Crane Co. In 1890 so maybe it's earlier than that? I just like to know a little history on the tools I have. Like I said I'm keeping it and using it so none of it really matters but just nice to know. I took it apart and started sandblasting it last night it's in pretty good shape.
