Has anyone ever built a "crane" that attaches into your trailer hitch receiver to assist in loading heavy items into the bed of your pickup? This would need to swivel and not be too heavy as one might need to do this alone. I believe that I actually saw one advertised a # of years ago, not sure where.

I've seen them mount inside the bed close to the side/tailgate but never to a receiver. My guess is because it would require removal of your tailgate every time you wanted to use it. Also i'm sure some tard would try and load a v8 big block engine using a class 1 hitch.

I'm sure you could make one or modify one to do the job.

IIRC all aluminum and not cheap (I didn't wait for the page to load)

I was gonna build something similar using a HF truck bed crane for use on a van, but the van died

Never have seen one but awesome idea. Depending on the class of hitch and the load requirements I think is completely possible. The tailgate would not necessarily need to be opened. Depending on the hydraulics and pivots used the picker side can pivot and store in the bed. Get the welder out and go for it!
