Crank handle on Craftsman Drill Press

The cast iron crank handle on my drill press broke in two. I looked on some sears parts sites but they didn't have the replacement crank. Is there a generic alternative to replacing this?

Is it reasonable to weld it back together (even if it's ugly)?

It seems to be held on with the hex head bolt locking it in. Beyodn that, I'm not sure if it's threaded or pressed on to the shaft.

Look on ENCO for a generic handle that will work.
Often you can get a handle with an undersized hole and open it up a bit.
You can also fab a handle with some steel if you have a welder

Mine broke just like yours and I could not locate one either. It's crappy metal so welding is not an option. I used gorilla glue on mine 2years ago. Still holding up very well.

Thanks, I'll try Enco and Ebay.

For some odd reason, welding one from scratch never crossed my mind. Sounds like a fun project. I'll try some gorilla glue as well in case the new fab doesn't work out.

Should be an easy tig weld if you know what you are doing. How do you know welding is out of the question?
