Yea, it's been mentioned before, been around for some time.

Unforunately, if you're not selling them with prices, I gotta move or delete this.

Two thoughts:
1.
Ran across this posting on E-bay.
eBay is not exactly a secret. Imagine the traffic if everyone using this forum posted a thread with his most interesting eBay or craigslist find every day. (fugedaboudit - we're already there ;>)

2.
At 300.00 plus shipping does not look like much of a deal.
The starting bid, plus shipping is $400. List/retail is $600.

I appreciated the heads-up.
Not all of us are so bucks-up that we can just decide "I'm going to buy a Wilton vise today" and then go shopping.
For a lot of us, our purchases are when the opportunity arises after a long search and we find the item for cheap. I've got a looong list of shop equipment I'm constantly on the look-out for, and when I find it cheap enough, I pull the trigger. For some things, it's taken years. For instance, $40 20-ton hydraulic shop press, $250 Pexto stomp sheer, $25 industrial blast cabinet with dust collector... all are in excellent shape. The blast cabinet alone retails for $1200. My point is, if people are going to jump on here and start giving other guys **** for posting up good deals, you're going to wreck the forum by being the Post Police.

All that being said, I think $300 a pop plus shipping is pretty steep... but now I know to watch the listing to see if he starts coming down in price. OR, since he's in the same town as my brother, I might ask if I can pick one up the next time I visit, for less than the $300 ask.

This one was borderline. Something like this goes up and several hundred people will take the time to open it. Don't waste peoples time if it's not any sort of good deal. This one to me is borderline. But I like it when members call out things that are posted too high. It helps peope new to buying from paying too much or posting things that are really not worth clicking on to take a look.

Too bad I am not in Atlanta today.

Free forum, free country, free opinions welcomed.

1. Just pointing out, we have 9,217 active members. Think about if everyone posted his best eBay find every day. We all can appreciate being given a head's up on a local screaming deal we'd never know about otherwise. However, anyone looking for a Wilton 450S vise can have search saved on eBay and be notified whenever one comes up.

2. Technically, the classifieds are for members selling a specific item at a given price.

As you can tell by my posting count, I'm a new member here. Sorry if I've pissed off some of the Senior members here with this posting, that was not my intent.

Personally, I like it when some one will share with me a find that they think might be a good deal and pass it on if they can't act on it. Whether you think it's a good deal or not is totally your decision.

Yes, this was found on E-bay. I don't believe that everybody here is monitoring E-bay 24/7. I'm certainly not, since I have to actually work for a living.

Sooooo, Excuuuuuse ME!!:bounce:

No offense taken here. Welcome and thanks for thinking of us.

Suggest reading up on eBay saved searches. That function will automatically monitor all of eBay for you 24/7 and notify you by e-mail and when you log on to your eBay account when an item in which you are interested is listed for auction.

What gives you the authority to tell him or anyone what to post on this forum, I don't see "moderator" under your name. Furthermore what makes you the authority on what deals are deals and what is borderline? If people are so worried about loosing the 4 seconds it takes to look at a link then they probably should not be on here at that time. The only issue I see is that he posted it under the "classified" section.

No problem at all with posting something you think is a deal...or something that's outrageously priced. Those are actually more fun! Just post it in Tools.

Classifieds are for stuff the poster is selling himself.

Oh, and welcome!

I thought it was a sale for a "crate of vises" but apparently if you purchase, the seller picks one out for you. I was thinking I would buy the whole crate, then sell the rest.

also, scroll to the bottom, it says "Bid with Honor"
Anybody know what that means?

Dude!!! I think you totaly misread my post. I wasn't being critical of the guy for posting this. I was just saying if something is not a good deal it wastes peoples time, but this one could be a good deal for some as I thought I made clear.
Who put you in charge....if you are then learn to comprehend what you read a little better.

CRTDI, welcome, and boy did you step in it. Don't feel like the lone ranger, I stepped in it to early on, (religous post) but they didn't shoot or ban me! Keep reading and posting and you'll get a handle on what works and what doesn't. Great bunch of guys here and some very shrewd and educated tool buyers. I know I have learned alot and hopefully some folks have learned from me.
