Crazed primer advice

Hi all,

I'm prepping my project car for paint at the moment. It's my first time doing a full paint on any car before. The care was already in primer from the previous owner so I had planned on sanding back and lightly filling any low spots.
I noticed today after sanding the door smooth some crazed areas.
Do I need to take it all the way back to metal now and start again?
It's straight and smooth other than a few areas on the corners I was going to fill. The crazing didn't show up until I block sanded with 180 grit.

I think you know in your heart what you need to do to do it right. You may be able to get away with shooting an epoxy primer over it to lock in whatever instability there is in the primer, but I wouldn't trust someone else's work that led to (or kept in) crazing for something that you want great results.

To me, it showing up now means that once you hit it with good paint it'll come back worse. Especially in the areas where it's featheredged in... the solvent wicks up the seam between coatings.

That's not really crazing, more like cracking. Yes, to do it right you need to take it down to bare metal.

Thanks for the advice. Will take it back to metal and start from there. Will probably have lots more questions along the way.
