My two year old son is obsessed with cars, motorcycles and HORNS. He always asks for “beep beep” so I figure, let’s put one in his cozy coupe. For those who don’t know, it’s the little red and yellow car I’m sure you’ve all seen kids footing around in.
I found a horn kit as you’d use on a motorcycle or ATV. I’ve hooked up plenty of horns. There isn’t an area in the car to put a 12v battery. I see on Amazon there are 12v cells that look almost like a AA battery. 23A and 12V. If that’s the case, one cell should last quite a while, correct? The horn pulls 1.5A @12v.
First, will this work? I would obviously fuse the circuit.
2nd, for how long…?
If not, do they sell cup holder sized batteries or does anybody have any other ideas for power? Plugging into an ac to dc adapter obviously isn’t an option. Originally I was going to do that, mount it in a box with sound deadening material and mount it on his bedroom wall (and take the plug out of the wall when it got annoying lol). But I think the cozy coupe would be more fun.

Er…… two year old and an automotive horn, I wouldn’t be worrying about fuse. But hearing lost.

Besides that what is an A in 23A battery? It’s not amp. Probably last not as long as you would think, if it even work at all.

I was going to mount it in something on the top with sound deadening material. I wouldn’t allow it to be open to the world.

No I am just saying might be too loud for child of two or three 4 , 5, 6. No matter how much they love that sound. Not trying to backseat parenting.

And no, those battery won’t work.

Gotcha. My plan was to mount it inside of something with some thick sound deadening material lining it and put it on top of the car. I as well was worried about the sound.
What can I power it with @12v that would fit in a cup holder sized space? That’s really all the space it has.

We used to have horns that came from the bicycle accessories shop. Self contained with a remote button. Some had horn or siren modes. Might look there for something that takes less work and is not as loud.

Would he be happy with a rubber bulb horn? No electricity required and not as loud (or damaging to young ears.) This is a picture from the Walmart website, but you should be able to find them most anywhere. Alternately there are electric bike horns that are self contained so no extra battery or wiring required, but you'd need to quiet them down somehow.
