Creative Wall coverings for partial poured concrete walls?

Hello all,

I'm wondering what options exist for "pretty'ing" up the ~3' lower sections of my garage walls that are poured concrete.

1. Paint
2. I saw the A&C garage used corrugated metal, which looked great.

What else have other folks done?

The least expensive option that I know is to use pressure treated furring strips and then a metal wainscot with a paint grade trim around it. This is a lifetime solution if you use galvalume metal and leave a 1/8" gap at the bottom where the wainscot meets the concrete floor.

The corrugated metal I used was cut by the supplier at 32" tall and covers 24" wide. It took 52 sheets of this size to do my garage and and cost me $275 dollars for the metal. The total for labor and materials including furring and trim was $600...which works out to be about $2.16 per s.f. finished.

You could frame it out with 2x4's then drywall, etc to match the rest of the garage.

Bonus to this method is that you can insulate the wall.

If there is room, that's going to be the most useful answer. It would also allow for some easy insulation along that cold concrete span during the winter.
