Had my old cornwell guy try to talk me into one. Seems pretty darn handy for intermittent problems. Plugs into OBD port and records up to 24 hours of driving. Monitors alot of different sensors. Would be nice to plug into a customers car and have them drive it until the problem occurs again then download the data and look at it. Just make sure to have the customer put a deposit on it incase they dont come back. ;)

So has anyone used one or know someone who has? Seems worthy of $100.

he is talking about a small obd recorder. I remember in ford training they talked about one for intermittent problems. It was always watching, but when you got the hicupp the customer pressed record and it saved the 2 mins before and after the hiccup

True, however for very intermittent problems that you cant get to happen when you test drive the car it would be useful in my mind. Its called crecorder. I believe this one constantly records without requiring the driver to press a record button. Once they return it you upload the data to your computer and it sets red flags where the problem began and you can look at the data there on a graph.
