Creeper for a big guy, what do you recommend?

Being a large guy I am looking to replace a few of my creepers and was wondering what some of you bigger guys have used and were happy with?

I'm 6'3" and over 350, so basically a gorilla, to help with understanding the size proportion, neck 22.5", chest 68", waist 44", most creepers seem like they are going to meet the floor when I am on them. Before I get the buy or install a lift comment, I have multiple garages and plus I keep a creeper in the back of my truck.

I'm your size. I don't have a creeper right now and was kind of wondering the same thing. I thought about buying one and maybe modifying it to stiff it up a bit.

But I also thought maybe it could be something that I could build.

My kid got a Matco all plastic close to the ground one. It was used when he got it and we've both been using it. It's holding up fine and they're no small guys here, just 2x's & 3X's! I bought the black HF model with the raised head rest and use that one on occasion. Kinda hang out of the sides and is a bit higher off the floor than the Matco, but the raised head rest has made using it worth it. Moves around OK but I wouldn't recommend the HF for high volume use. The wife bought me a Snap-on one that I have hanging from the ceiling. The boy pokes fun at me for refusing to use it but I told him I'm saving it for when the car underside is cleaned and painted.

Mac tools used to have a large frame creeper I have one but cant find it in their website its got heavy square frame and large wheels I'm 5'8 275 plus and rolls great

Groove King, I am the same size as you and use the Lisle one. It has held up well so far. The bad thing about being big and on a creeper is you have to get the car up so damn high. I need a lift!

IMO, it's cheaper to make one. They sell replacement wheels get 6, some oak for the side rails and some braces, 3/8 plywood, add a head rest.

Build it right, it will last you a lifetime.

Check out one called the " King Krawler " I bought one for my son for Xmas.
He is a large guy and I chose it over the "Bone". Very well made, large wheels and rolls great.

im larger also..... i never found a creeper that would work all that well... .i finally just got a lift.. now life is good, none of that laying on your back tring to get on and off a too small creeper... i told my wife the lift was really the only answer

This one seems to take care of the problem of having the thing flip up on you when you sit down, because the wheels actually extend beyond the end of the seat.

Not only that, but you can make it as long as you want. The main complaint I have about the commercial ones is that they are too short; I put an extension on mine for my head to rest on.

My friend is a big dude, close to 7ft tall and ~375lbs. He uses the Snap On unit with 4 big wheels and has held up just fine.

I'm 5'10" ~200lbs and he picks me up and tosses me around like I'm a stick of wood or something :shocking::bounce:

I'll have to pass that on to my buddy. He's just shy of 7' and goes about 425#. Most creepers cave when he walks into the garage.

+1. I have been happy with mine, though I am a relative little guy at only 250... (that's what she said, what?)

Holds me fine, wheels well, has a brake (a nicer feature than I realized) and is comfy...

6'10" and 300lbs.. I like the "Excalibur". I bought mine at Advance Auto but I'm sure you can get it many other places. Plenty long for me and also converts to a rolling seat. Not sure you'd want to put a lot of weight on it as a seat, but as a creeper it does great for me.

I have this one and I'm nowhere near the size of you guys. If you're considering this one for the headrest don't bother. The headrest is attached with small screws, thin wood and nutserts. It (headrest function) became useless after only a few times using it other than that it's okay.

Yet another vote for "The Bone" here. It's big wheels roll over trouble light cords with ease without getting stuck. Replacement wheels are available for it, too.

If it were me, I would build one. I have a regular one now that I bought from NAPA and I hate it. It is made out of cheap 1/4" plywood and it sags in the middle. The rollers were so far from the end, when I would try to get off of the end of it, it would flip up in the air and hit me in the back of the head. What a piece of ****. I moved the wheels down to the end and corrected that problem, but it still sags in the middle. If I were larger, I would build one out of 2x4s, put four (80 lb. capacity) rollers on each corner and two down the middle. That's 480 lbs. of capacity and it is made to fit you. Tack a head rest on the end and go for it. Good luck.

I'm a big dude, 6'5" 350+ and I've gone thru a lot of creepers without finding the right one. Bone? Nope. Bone XL? Closer, but no. Anything on the Snap-On truck? Not any better than the Bone. Right now I use a super thick yoga mat under whatever I'm working on. Not as convenient as a creeper but it's better than laying on cardboard.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing...imagine not having to lug around a 45lb weightplate.
