6’2”, 250lbs. 65+ yrs. home owner. . Not an employed wrench turner.

I’m looking for a creeper seat to detail my cars/truck. Work on my trailer bearings, etc.

I’d like it “storable” - space is at a premium.

suggestions?

thanjs.

I bought this one on Amazon 2 years ago and it has been just what I needed. I also detail my car and truck and it is ideal for that. It has a capacity of 300 lbs and the seat adjusts up and down easily. It rolls easily too.

I have one similar to the Wen shown above and it has adjustable height. Also, it has five wheels which makes it a bit more stable when you are rolling around. If you roll too fast and roll over something the 4-wheel stools tip more easily. I am in the same boat as you and got this stool about 10 years ago because my left knee made it hard to squat long when detailing my car or doing other work. I also have an adjustable DeWalt stool for my main workbench, but it is taller. I did have to replace the foam padding in it about a year ago because it was getting compressed and the plywood underneath hurt my ****. My wife bought some extra thick foam and helped me (or I helped her) put the new padding on and the cover back using staples. I also have an adjustable DeWalt stool for my main workbench, but it is taller. Because both are mobile they can be pushed out of the way and both can fit under one of my work benches. I sometimes use my car wash bucket as well because it came with a lid and with a round foam pad for sitting on it and it is on a caster base.

Wen makes a ton of tools for other brands. If it looks like the Wen, odds are it IS a Wen with a different paint job.

I have one in that style too, except mine is red. If by "storable" you mean something that folds up small to sit on a shelf, then the Wen isn't it. I do really like having a quick height adjustment though. It's really nice when working on cars.

Do you have a link for the Dewalt?
I have this one- . My neighbor bought one too. They are a bit spendy but are very sturdy. The first image makes it look short so scroll through the images to see it when raised. This is taller than the Wen type stool and when raised I can sit at my work bench. The Wen type stool is too short for sitting at the work bench but great for detailing cars and other things that are low. Those little creeper shop stools also tend to be about half the price or less of a more substantial work bench stool like the Dewalt stools.

Dewalt has one without casters too- https://www.dewalt.com/product/dxstfh030/30-swivel-shop-stool?tid=.

I looked through my files and couldn't find who I ordered it from. It was probably Home Depot.

I won one of those Dewalt roller seats when they first came out. Its okay but not great.
I'm a big guy, close to 290lbs/6ft 3in tall and unless the floor is dead perfect smooth, its a bit tippy rolling around on it.
I also found the seat too small to be comfortable. The gas piston also drops at will. It was fine for a week or two then it started acting up.

I bought two of these from Snap On a few years ago and these are hard to beat.
They're a fixed height but work good both in the office for low filing and in the shop for working on the ground.
They were more than a bit pricey though at $439. each.

Sears used to have a version of them too for about half that amount but the base wasn't quite as heavy duty.

I hope the wheels have locks. Don't feel stable enough with these. Upgrading the casters will cost almost the same as the whole seats.

Been watching this thread for a 'storable' creeper seat like the OP asked but I'm not sure one exists. There is the 'Z' creeper that lays flat and folds into a seat but the only one of those I've had didn't last a year before it was falling apart everywhere and would not recommend.

FWIW my neighbor uses one of these, that the first time I saw it I thought it looked like some ridiculous frankenstein thing he'd patched together but was impressed on how he's able to quickly go from sitting on it to standing on it to switch between working in a wheelwell and then up under the hood and back while his truck is up on stands. Then I saw it one day at one of the big box stores (Home depot?) one day and realized it wasn't just some DIY hack of his. It's a Pro-LifT C-2800. Just mentioning it as it's been on my list of wants for a while now and could possible envision it as a space saver if you also have a want/need for a short stool in the garage or whatnot.

I might need one of these myself.
