One piece of advice - there is a creeper with straight rails along the side and one with rails that contour down to accomodate your arms to the side. The second one will be more comfortable but also cost more.

I have a plastic contoured on from HF and I have no issues with it. I think I paid $20 for it.

its probably more than you want to spend, but once my Mac finly dies , my next creeper will be one of those Bone rough terrain creepers.

THe ability to run over rough ground (or cords) will be nice. I used a regular Bone once, and it was really comfortable.

I like the HF plastic creeper the best, specially the trays on both sides. I had it for years never had any issue.

I have a Harbor Freight creeper with the flames on the pad. It has the head rest that can adjust upwards which is nice for when you're grinding away gunk from under an okd car. My kid picked up a plastic Matco and man is that thing low to the ground and comfortable.

w/out calling myself fat, i will say the weight rating on this thing lies! mine will sag in the middle and rub the ground. i have drilled a couple holes in it and put some expand a foam in it to help it out, but i still have more to do.

More wheels is better (easier to roll over expansion joints, etc)
Bigger / pneumatic wheels is better (easier to roll over nuts, bolts, air lines, whatever else).
If you're going to be under there for long, adjustable head and back rest is a great feature (think of it as a lazyboy recliner, but for car work )

I've always wanted to try one of the bone creepers with the big wheels that are supposed to roll over everything - anybody have one? Like it?

I use one of these:

BS7DJ3N9140light11111111111111111.gif

It's the most comfortable creeper I've ever laid on. It's also very low profile. The two storage bins on each side come in handy.

It'll flex and rub the floor if you sit upright or otherwise focus your weight in one spot, but once you lay down it supports you just fine.

It's really light weight, making it easy to move around. The plastic is easy to clean.

i had the black fold up walmart one until it busted on an expansion joint. Now i have a craftsman, it is a lot better built. I wish i got the one with the adjustable headrest, but i bought what sears had there that day. I needed it then....

I did take the busted half off the walmart one and used the remainder as a dolly. works great for transmissions!

I have a Bone creeper and like it a lot, low to the ground and rolls over most anything that would catch my old creeper. It is a little wide at times due to the caster placement but the ease of moving makes up for it. I wish mine had an adjustable headrest but for now, a rolled up towel works...

$300!? you can build that for about $30 and put your own name on the cushion! :bounce:

The Snappy price and the Whiteside pneumatic creeper are essentially the same http://www.whitesidemfg.com/creeper%20items/pr.htm

I agree its alot, but most of the money is ******* in the pneumatic casters.

If i ever blow out a caster on my Mac (whiteside MTLV6 http://www.whitesidemfg.com/creeper%20items/mtlv6.htm) i may convert the thing to pneumatic tires. But im a litle worried what hot welding sparks may do to the tires if i run over them. Would be nice for a outside creeper though.

I have the dogbone creeper and I love it for keeping my **** off of the ground. Still have to resort to cardboard for heavy duty wrangling of the transmission but use it for most everything else.

My uncle has the all terrain one for his gravel driveway and seems to like it a lot.

Alright, you all inspired me. Last night went to Harbor Freight armed with my 20% off coupon and bought this creeper.

That's the one I have, make sure you tighten all of the nuts on it, mine were just finger tight when I bought it.

Stick,
I am not following what you did with the holes and foam. Can you elaborate a bit?

Also, I have a Bone Rough Rider and love it. It is not something I use very often, however.

Says $315 normal price, $195 my price for me. I wonder why they mark it up to mark it down?

Nope, I'm not a student... Use to run a tool room and I still have my account with them. :)

that's weird, price shows up at $308.15 when i click the link :headscrat

Even $200 seems to be a lot to me...

I call it rip-off if it doesn't come with a five-point harness.

I'd take that one over the SO.

Bringing this back up to the top. I've had it with my el-cheapo creeper. For those with the plastic HF, will it roll over an extension cord? I have trouble believing it will support my 235 lb frame.

I'm looking hard at the bone creepers. I'll be working on cement or asphalt surfaces only. Any reason to spring for the Rough Rider over the standard Bone? Looks like only a 1/4" on the diameter and a 1/8" differece on the width of the wheels. Cant' imagine that's worth an extra ~20% on the price.

Does anyone have a review of this one:

Seems like the comfort over the Bone may be worth the extra price....

HF works for me now, though I have to tighten the casters periodically....

That said, the next one will have an adjustable headrest and larger casters. I HATE getting stuck on my garages expansion joint... And my neck/back hate me after a few hours on the creeper.
