Cremone Bolt

I'm hanging a french door on my shed/workshop and having trouble finding a basic exterior grade cremone bolt for the doors. The searches are finding them but are very expensive (1500.00-3000.00$)... I don't think so !! Do ant GJs have or know of a supplier that can help ?

Do you happen to have any photos of the doors/shed? Unless you have a specific reason for wanting an exterior cremone bolt, consider that it is a workshop, you can probably secure it fairly readily for less than $100. For instance if you were to go with a traditional frenchdoor deadbolt, and then lock one of the door panels into the frame/building/pad it sits on using a bolt cane or bolt barrel type lock that drops/raises into a hole in the pad or door frame.

i do have pix of the shed but have not built the doors yet. I have considered a barrel bolt but wanted something more sturdy top to bottom of door.

The above aren't exactly what you asked. Interior cremones are all over the net.

It would be easy to do something like a safe door, maybe deadbolt based. Or padlock. Or puck lock.

I cant find decent photos. I am suggesting something modeled after the relocker on a safe. Youtube has some nice videos of RSC factories showing their interiors workings.

The tricky part is" exterior". I read that to mean operable from outside the door which makes it custom and hard to find.

Interior is EASY to find. Or, just fab it yourself. It is a workshop after all. Some people even pay extra for "custom hand forged".

If he just meant " nonrusting", interior brass ones are common.

Yes the latter, sorry for the confusion. Exterior as in weather resistant.

My plan was to install a cremone bolt on the interior of the left door (operated from internal only) and install one on the internal of the right door with an outside latch/lock. I can open the left door once I'm inside.

Well, the interior one is easy. They're all over the net. Conventional latches mounted top and bottom would be less. Adamrite would be less.

The exterior one is an oddball. Would any of my three suggestions work for you?

So, did you ever get your cremone bolt figured out. I would love to see what you used.

I am also wanting an exterior handle with an interior cremone style locking system.

I am trying to figure out a design that would work.

Maybe I missed something, but wouldn't a off shelf or modified overhead garage door twist handle w two horizontal bars that go through the tracks work?

Unless you need a Frenchie made Oil Rubbed Bronze setup, then I dunno.

The Frenchie french Cremone Bolts are interior decorative items in the living space and are antiques or look like antiques. Many of them are cast bronze or iron made back in the day when labor was cheap.

I do like the positive way they latch though.

I am looking for something that functions well but with a handle on the outside that looks good.

I am going to gin something up and then post what I figure out.

It may be a while as other parts of the project are taking priority.

Totally understand, but the OP said shed/shop... Not doorway out to the Pool in Beverly Hills.
