I can see where that would be useful. 
There's lots on the used market, they were invented in and produced since the 1800's. I see them often at garage sales. Many times the seller doesn't know what they're for. I played with my dads as a kid, you could not break it

Blood blister maker that happens to also pull nails, and wreck whatever wood you are trying to pull it out of.
limits how close you can pull a nail to an obstruction. That matters a lot, because these are often used for salvage jobs, or for reuse. You can pull a trim nail out without much damage.

I inherited one of those. I just a few months ago donated one of those to a used tool store. Never used it in the 23 years that I owned it. I have better results with an Estwing claw hammer, or end nippers.

I have had nails I had trouble getting out... I have something much smaller that is like a miracle nail puller... I always wondered how well those big monsters worked....

We had a couple of those when I was a kid on the farm. Haven’t seen one in the wild since.
