crescent wrench repair?

Got a broken Crescent 8" wrench from work today...the lower jaw piece broke off. It is a newer wrench so there is no slotted screw to remove the pin, and Crescent does not have parts for anything under a 15" wrench.
Is there any hope or should I just throw it in my scrap pile?

Jeff

I am with the other guy, why not warranty it? Anything more is like trying to repair a bic lighter or taking a cat to a vet, pointless and a waste of time.

Also, what is that line in the lower left hand corner of the thumb adjuster opening? Looks like crack there.

I got the part I needed from Alex. I don't know if it could be warrantied...I did not purchase it originally, it was given to me...plus being used an in industrial setting vs consumer? Plus I don't want a chinese wrench as a replacement.

I just wondered how do you remove the pin from these newer ones that are not threaded.

The project was a success. The replacement part ended up being for an older wrench so it was a bit larger, so one of the guys at work did a few modifications for me...he drilled the hole larger and enlarged the slot so the jaw would fit. He said he used an end mill to get the pin out so he could remove the knurled wheel. The pin and wheel just spin so drilling would not have worked, I don't think.
The whole thing was sanded down so the jaws were flush. In all, I am happy!

Glad you got it fixed. I had a very old 8" adjustable that was from the Diamond Calk and Horsehoe Co. that was missing the knurl and pin. It belonged to my grandfather. I wrote them years ago about it and they just sent me what I needed. The company is now part of Cooper Industries.

Those are nice old wrenches. They don't sell those parts anymore but luckily Alex had what I needed, thanks again! My other option was to take a trip to Toledo where I know an old hardware store that still has them!

Looks like about 2+ hours of work at, what does custom machine shop work go for? $200/hour? All for a $10 wrench?

It was ten or fifteen minutes of work while he was running other parts on a different machine.
I work at a manufacturing company.
