I have a 1200 sq ft shop that's a couple years old. I don't think it was ever sealed (water does not bead) so Im looking for something that will seal it and help resist stains. Its a working garage/shop so I need something that will stand up to chemicals and welding etc. I came across cretedefender.com and wanted to know if anyone has used it or if there is any other recommendations. Maybe legacy will chime in with there thoughts or comparable product.

Thanks in advance

Looks like it is a pretty good product. $34 per gallon and it covers 100-200 sq ft.

For my 1200 sq ft shop it would cost $200-$400 buck vs. $1000+ for an epoxy coating. I'm swinging back and forth on sealer or expoxy and have been for 4 years. Now I have some stains which adds more labor to the job...

Being a silica sealer, you won't be doing anything else over it in the future. Reading on the site it says it penetrates 4". I would hate to get stuck with my product not sticking to that.

The siliconate additive is the problem, if you choose a sealer with this included. It will reject coatings. If you grind a densified surface you can get a lock.

I have no plans to coat with anything else but it says on this page

http://cretedefender.com/what-cretedefender-is/

Makes concrete impervious to salt (chloride) intrusion and the damage salt causes
Immediately STOPS the reactions from salt and other chemicals that cause damage
Eliminates dusting and flaking of properly finished concrete
Eliminates freeze/thaw damage
Corrects and stabilizes the pH of concrete
Hardens and adds density to concrete
Increases surface hardness by 45%
Provides substantial chemical resistance
Prevents efflorescence
Increases slip resistance on both smooth, machine troweled concrete and broom finished concrete
Makes concrete harder to scratch
Waterproofs

Makes concrete bond better to paint, epoxy, urethane, and other coatings

Reduces Moisture Vapor Transmission (MVT) in concrete (a major cause of epoxy and urethane floor failure)

So what am I misunderstanding?

Which of your many products would legacy recommend?

Just looking for a good tough sealer for a working garage that will stand up to chemicals and welding, cutting, dragging jack stands and jacks etc.

If you don't want a finish or sheen, you should get a penetrating sealer or densifier.
Our HD39 is pretty good. It won't make you handsome or save the world but it works well.

ok thanks i will look into that. Back to my other question about the cretedefender. you and someone else said that siliconate additive is the problem with the cretedefender. but there website that I posted says the opposite as I outlined in red above. Are you saying there wrong in there advertising of the product?
