Crimp tool /system

I have been repairing small electrical items lately. Vacuum cleaners and floor polishers and battery powered scrubbers.

I have been cutting off crimped Wire's replacing parts and twisting the wires together and taping them up with black electrical tape. I wanted to know the name or brand of a crimp system that would work on these wires. Hopefully there is one tool that will work for various size wires.

This may be a dumb question but I am very new to this. I'm teaching myself as I go. I have a AC chord with a breaker in it so if I mess up, I don't have a bigger problem. It helped me a lot last night.

Do you need different types for different voltages. Some units are regular A/c electric ands other is batter DC powered?

get yourself a soldering iron and learn to use it.

You really want to use the same kind of connector as you are removing. Twisting wires together and covering with electrical tape is a bad idea. Aside from the potential for electrical shock when the wires pull loose or get wet, the excessive resistance caused by the inevitable oxidation and corrosion will cause a fire hazard.

Klein, T&B, Ideal and Chanel Lock all make and sell good crimp tools.

Ideal Crimpmaster with appropriate dies for the type of connector you are crimping. Dozens of them on eBay. Mine came with 6 sets of dies and a leather holster for about $25. Looks new. I use open barrel F-crimp (weatherpac, metripac, etc) connectors almost exclusively. I like that they crimp the strip and the insulation. Some shrink over that and you are all set.

GB or other brand crimping pliers and few sizes of crimp caps and crimp tubes is What I recommend and use for such work.

I was using a Ideal and T&B crimp tool, but after getting a Pressmaster and seeing the quality of crimps on the 1st crimp I used on them......the T&B and Ideal have never been used since
