We used to call them the moonshiners paint gun cause it looks like a mason jar.
That's the first time I've seen one spray anything.

Mason jar paint gun. Awesome. Shoot Rustoleum on your rat rod with it.
Put the whole adventure on you tube.

Well it IS a mason jar. That's the point--only thing you HAVE to clean is the suction orifice. No passages, needles, caps...throw the "can" away.

Based on the size of the compressor in the video, it looks to be basically just the next size up from an airbrush.

A couple people on OWWM have had good luck spraying machine tools with these. Most people who don't have an expensive unit still prefer the HF purple gun, though.
I have a purple. I hate cleaning it. I hate painting. I hate paint. I hate rust. The whole planet should be stainless steel.
This thing will be here next week. I'll report on it. My hopes are.....well....WTF should I expect for $40. Right ?

Update. ***** with latex. ***** with lacquer. It'll throw some oil base fairly good.
It's great for a red oxide to preserve and let a real painter have it later.
I just sprayed a couple of torch dollies with a fast dry oil. Came out nice."Tractor" finish. Caterpillar yellow and a good bit of ripple but thick and slick. It takes 30 seconds to clean the gun and cap the mason jar.I have a mason jar with thinner, one with varsol so unscrew and cap the leftover paint, screw on the appropriate cleaner and pull the trigger. I like it !

Upholstery shops like to use these guns for spray adhesive. Easy to clean and doesn't plug up like regular spray guns.
