Hi guys I have an older Crouse-Hinds explosion proof drop light I picked up. I want to rewire it (the wires were cut when I got it) so I can use it hanging in the house. I like the way they look.

Any way I think it should be pretty strait forward but wanted to ask first. I think I can just get a good cord and run black to black and green to green and white to the last empty plug. Then just put a 100 Watt bulb in it and be good to go. Does that sound correct?

Also the attachment without a wire in the photo is broken. To be more exact the screw that titens down on the wire is broken so it can not be tightened. I will try and remove it. But if I cant I think I can just run a wire through it loop it and solder it. It is backed part way out.

You could try some WD40 or any penitrant like that to loosen the set screw on that terminal. The "receiver" is copper so that won't be corroded. You might be able to back out that screw after you let it soak for a while. An electrical or lighting company might be able to hook you up with a new screw if you should need one.

The problem with the screw was on half of the slot was broken off. And there is not enough to get plyers on. What I did was get a wire down in there an solder it really well. The light is working now. And I have a really cool 19th cast iron pulley system having it from the wall. Just need to get one of those antique style light bulbs for it now.
