Crowded Engine bay-do these need a special tool?

Its time for the oil change and inspection on the 2004 CTS. Its got 90k on it, so time for a oil and filter change. I figured I would inspect the brakes and plugs also. I can get 3 plugs out without removing the intake. Do I need a special tool for these vacuum lines?

I would try a pic but they are pretty brittle

Also, when removing the intake can you easily remove the felt before removing the intake or do they come off together.

Time for new rotors, can't see it that clearly in the photo, but the vanes are starting to crumble and fall out. I think I'm going with r1 concepts, seems most people on the caddy forums run them.

Also the best jack in the world. An old double scissor from 87 nova with a 1/2 drive added for impact use.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a double scissor like that before. Does it give you added height, or increase the lifting capacity?

added height in smaller size and its very fast. Rated at 700kilo

Double scissor jack gives the benefit of going up faster. That's about it.

You need a special M0053 tool.

Looks like you'll need a tool similar to the ones used for the fuel lines, hard to say from the picture though.

thats what I thought I have them in 4 different sizes, none of them fit though the nose of the part that slides in to disengage is to long to even start it.

after you pull the plenum off please stuff a rag into each intake port, you dont want to drop a bolt in there.

no rush to do the plugs, I'm not starting until I find out if a ngk tr55 is same length as the platinum plugs, then I need to get the new gaskets and finally I won't start until I figure out how to remove the clip without breaking it. But I working on something else in mean time.

success, that is a small tab hidden on the underside.Along with a thin screw driver slide along the steel ******

yeah GM uses those tabs a lot these days, mostly on vacuum and EVAP lines, is it the one where you kinda slide the tab one way and it spreads the plastic clip inside to get over the hump of the ***??

Those plastic vacuum lines last longer than the rubber hoses, BUT, if they're old and you bump one too hard, they break. I treat them like glass when when I'm working around them.

I had a situation where I was leaning too hard up against one with a socket extension and snap!! I was able to replace it with a rubber vacuum line and a Dorman vacuum connector; now it looks factory.
