Could always sell them or trade them.

It is a problem with a lot of specialty tools. Don't know a good use at first, so they sit unused. Eventually forget you own them. Then when you really could have used them, you forget you own them, so you have no idea that you really could have used them, and just assume struggling with an adjustable or open end is the only way. It is possible you end up having to remove more stuff just to get at said fastener/fitting. Since it looks impossible you will think nothing of it.

They come in all shapes and sizes. Have some that are super thin and in 30-50mmm range. They are for screw-on fan clutches found in many german and american vehicles.

Have some open end regulars. They are so you can attach a variety of wobbles and other extensions to a breaker bar, so you can have a longer than normal open end that curves and bends around all kinds of obstacles.

For older vehicles it may serve as a distributor wrench.

Have some that ratchet, they are for the same purpose, but not for fittings obviously.

It's for any time you don't have a straight shot at the fastener due to stuff being in the way. Or simply need/desire a longer wrench.

Fittings on tubing and brake lines

They are also a quick backup when you need two line wrenches by installing the Cfw on a breaker bar

Abso-freaking-lutely. That is the problem for weekend warriors that buy specialty tools - do you consider you have them when presented with a challenge. I am guilty as charged as for not considering them when I needed to torque on a caliper bolt that I did not have clearance to use a torque wrench on the fastener. Later I had a V8 moment and realized I could have used the crowfoot wrenches and it would have worked great. Lesson learned for next time though.

I don't use them much (I only work on my own stuff), but they are the easiest way to get senders out of the block on my cars. I've also used them for fuel filter fittings since my fuel filter is in a cage under the car.

They work well to get to certain parts of outboard motors too.

When I saw the title, I thought "what is a crowfoot socket"? Never heard a crowfoot called a "socket" before, a "crowfoot wrench" yes, but a "socket"?

Anyhow, I know what you are talking about.

I make it a habit to use my specialty tools at home (or at work) as much as possible when I first buy them. Maybe the fancy pass thru, flex, weird angle bent wrench, special length socket is not NEEDED for a job, but it gets me into the habit of experimenting and finding new uses for them.

Then when the day comes that I need a bent/flex/low profile special thing, it is easier to spot the need and remember that I actually have such a device.
