While all the insanity was going on regarding the HF compressor deal, I was keeping an eye on this one.
It originally listed with a $1000 min bid
and didn't sell, no surprise. Looks like the shroud is damaged and if you click backwards 8 pages (from the original page load), you'll see the pic of the tank with a scratch and what looks like a dent). The label on the tank also suggests that it was manufacturered in 1979, making it a cool 30yrs old.
It was relisted with a $200 reserve and sold today for $557. For a 30yr old compressor with a potentially damaged tank, an unknown maintenance history and a listed unwokring condition.
I know new stuff is generally cheaper in the USA... here's further proof that even the used prices here are insane.

There are many other examples. Some people are nuts, and focus on the name, not the condition.
What do they have over their competitors (their true competitors, not cheap knockoffs)?
