Hiya,
I've not a lot of experience in working on hydraulic systems so this was a bit new for me. My Crown PTH50 pallet jack was working one minute and the next it stopped raising. Did all the troubleshooting to remove airlock, etc...and nothing worked. So bit the bullet and purchased a seal kit for it. Well, I got it all torn down and put back together. No leaks! But the piston that gets actuated by the handle to raise the arms won't return to the top position. So I get one pump, the arms raise a bit, then I have to physically pull the piston up. In looking at the diagram, it appears I probably put a washer in the wrong place and the spring is not pushing the piston back up. So I'll tear into it to discover what bonehead maneuver I did. But I got to thinking, I replaced the seal at the top of the unit where the piston passes through. Should I have greased that at all? I didn't notice when I took it out whether it had grease or not but this thing was built ages ago and it looks as though everything on it is original so things were pretty messy to begin with.

Thanking those with more hydraulic experience than I!
Cheers.
