Usually I can't afford to buy new so just window shopping for me. I USE to enjoy walking through sears, but now that so much is China, it just makes me sad. Lowes can be OK, but along the same line with sears. Menards is pretty nice, quite a bit of USA at reasonable prices if you watch the sales, but a bit out of the way for me.

Lowes and Sears for Knipex, and some local and semi-local joints for other stuff... Hall Tool, Chas. H. Day for Bosch and Metabo, Lucille's Tools in Hillsboro, and Salem Tools when I'm up for a bit of a drive.

It's the internet and trade publications for me. I don't have a real store that I cruise for tools at. There is a monthly automotive swap meet that I visit.
Places like Sears and Lowes only offer a limited selection of basic hand tools. Once you have those, unless it's a pennies on the piece sale they can't do much for you.

Trade magazines usually have ads for new tools and ebay usually has a bit of evrything at a very wide price spread. I guess Napa may be the closest thing I have to a real store.

7 posts and no one mentioned harbor Freight.

I don't shop B&M for tools. All the retailer's have embraced low end generic Chinese tools since that's what 99% of the consumers want.

If you want good stuff buy online, hunt the G-sales or Ebay.
