So...a friend had his 70th this week and I picked him up one of these Cruztools BMW sets (he has one of those BMW K1600 6’s). I have bought another one of these sets (the more generic one) for a friend and have two myself. What stood out was that even though I was thrilled to buy 270 piece Husky tool sets on sale for $99 this year (https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=466778)I was just as happy to buy this one for over $100. Now, these are very nice compact tool kits but even so they are pretty spendy. The BMW kit is $107 on Amazon and the generic kits are $86. I got to thinking about this after reading the thread on chrome finishes - these wrenches have a very nice matte finish, but the ratchet and sockets are chrome. I have no idea who makes them, but assume Cruz doesn’t make their own. They also make kits for pilots and musicians.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised how I’ll work hard to save money on tools but for the right nice thing my thriftiness goes out the window.
Of course I had to take the kit out of the box and admire it before I gave it to him.
Pics are BMW set (includes torx) and generic metric set.
